Before COVID, I worked, travelled, took friends and family connections for granted; went through the motions of life. After COVID the shock and awe of a fast-shifting reality lead me to an awakening; the world was not as I believed it to be!
It’s like the rug was pulled out from under me. What one expected to happen did not. Pillars and foundations that guided and supported us were nowhere to be seen.
Oh, oh we are not in Kansas anymore.
Rules and mandates that challenged logic, and science were implemented. Dissenting voices from science, medicine, social justice was mocked, smeared, objectified with labels. Only those in power were to be trusted and obeyed, the acts of research and critical thinking were mocked and punished . Society polarized, neighbours turning on neighbours, fear ruling the day. Fear blocking out the ability to reason. Relationships with family and friends strained or severed. The world seemed split into two different realities.
Nope not in Kansas and I don’t think we are ever going back. We were told this time of upheaval and chaos offered an opportunity to usher in much needed changes in society. That we would not return to normal. Reality engineered? What is going on? …. was my mantra for years. Working through the trauma and loss was a process of rebuilding of my life. With new friends and family day by day the psychological warfare was exposed; the re-engineering of society revealed, the censorship the coverups and the confusion a mainstay. What is going on? I learned to question everything.
Was it all meant to be to get humanity to wake up to the greed, deceit and corruption? Is evil bad or good if wakes people up to the necessary and life-giving primary connection to our Mother Earth? If after realizing the rotten foundation our society finds itself on, we dedicate ourselves to imagining, building a better world, maybe it was meant to be? If the way out of the dystopian nightmare is turning your face toward an ever-loving God/Source Creator, then perhaps it was all worth the pain. Now I find solace in a spiritual practice and strength from communing with our Mother Earth and seek joy.
