Before the storm, I was free,

A voice in every room, a light to see.

Confidence woven in every stride,

A heart unguarded, a soul open wide.

But then the world began to fall,

Covid’s grip, a rising call.

I felt the fear, but in my chest,

A deeper worry would not rest.

The virus raged, the world in fright,

But I saw shadows in the night—

A hidden cost no one would speak,

The toll of lives, of futures weak.

I asked the questions, raised my voice,

But the world dismissed me, by choice.

I felt the silence, felt the sting,

As though my thoughts were just a thing

To mock, to silence, to erase—

My fears too real, too out of place.

I withdrew into the quiet dark,

No longer bold, no longer sharp.

The world I knew began to fade,

A mask I wore, afraid, betrayed..

The mockery, the silence, the pain,

Left scars I can’t erase, remain.

I no longer dance in the noise,

Now I choose my quiet voice.

Rebirth with those of like mind,

At first hidden, my treasures to find.

Love and strength in community anew,

Now a tribe of many grew.

The storm has passed, but something’s changed,

The world, the self, now both estranged.

And though I’m here, I’m not the same—

The cost of trust, the price of blame.
